Today, we pay special tribute to the women who were our first Teachers, Lifelong Guides, and Greatest Advocates. As we approach Mother’s Day, I want to share personal stories and lessons learned from my Mom to inspire you to appreciate and celebrate the special women in your life.
Today’s journey is about honoring the women who have shaped us from the beginning—our mothers. They are our guiding lights, teaching us lessons about life, love, courage, and resilience. Mothers fill so many roles, but one enduring title they all share is that of teacher.
Happy Mother’s Day to Mom Thal and all the Mothers. You’re all incredible!
I started thinking about all the phrases and advice My Mom has shared with me over the years. Is there one phrase or piece of advice that your Mom shared with you? I could do an entire podcast on all the great advice my Mom has shared over the years. Here are a few: ” I did the best I could at that time,” followed by ” If I knew better, I would have done better.” Our Moms are students of life, and they, too, learn from each of their experiences. One thing is for sure: our Moms want the best for us!
Mothers as Our First Teachers
From the moment we take our first breath, our mothers are our first teachers. They teach us how to speak, how to walk, and even how to love. As we grow, they guide us through life’s lessons, showing us the values of kindness, patience, organization, and compassion. Let’s take a moment to celebrate these foundational lessons that have shaped who we are today.
I often hear stories about mothers who, in so many creative ways, teach their children important life skills. Whether it’s through bedtime stories that spark our imagination or those simple, everyday conversations that shape our understanding of the world, a mother’s influence is profound.
The one universal lesson all Moms want for their children, as my Mom did, is the ability to stand on their own and provide for themselves. Perhaps it was a lesson she learned and wanted to pass on to her children. Mothers around the world support and encourage us to take a path of financial security, choosing who we love, connecting to others, and creating lifetime friendships. One of my Mom’s lessons on Friendship was to “Have a good friend; you need to be a good friend.” That lesson I learned from Mom!
Lessons that have impacted our lives
Mothers instill resilience and determination in us, often without us even realizing it. They encourage us to pursue our dreams, believe in us, and stand by us when we fall, ready to pick us back up. Their unwavering support is a source of inspiration.
Many of us can think back to moments when, despite the odds, a mother’s belief in our potential powered us through challenges. Perhaps you’ve heard the mother’s story of supporting her child’s love for art, music, or sports even when resources were tight, showing us that anything is possible with passion and creativity.
A Tribute to Unconditional Love
The love of a mother is unconditional and knows no bounds. It forgives, nurtures, and persists. I invite you to share your stories and tributes in the comments section, sharing moments when your mother’s love made all the difference.
Let’s honor our moms by sharing the lessons they taught us. Take time to celebrate the special women in your life on Mother’s Day and every day. Their impact is forever felt in our hearts, whether they are still with us in spirit or beside us.
I am sending love and gratitude to mothers everywhere who continue to teach, inspire, and nurture us each day. Celebrate with me by sharing this with someone special, perhaps your friends, sisters, aunts, or moms!
Until next time, keep cherishing the moments and the people who make life beautiful. Happy Mother’s ebru-art!
