Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese?
Both display leadership for their teams on and off the court, and what we can learn from them.

I love March Madness NCAA Basketball! What a game to see two teams with passion and intensity give it their all. Typically, there is more focus on men’s games than women’s. That changed after the Final women’s NCAA game between LSU and Iowa.

There has been a social media war between various players and their behaviors on the court. Many people point out their differences in style of play, the player’s behaviors, and how the coach dresses. There are many paths to success, and on Sunday, LSU was unstoppable despite playing against one of the best college players to play the game – Caitlin Clark from Iowa.

We witnessed two teams with passion and determination to succeed! Who won in the end? Yes, LSU earned the NCAA National Championship. But for those that watched the game, we won too.
We saw two competitors making history.

I am going to focus on what all these players have in common.
Here are a few highlights from the final game.
Over 6.6 Million people watched the game.
Over 357,000 people attend the Tourney – record-breaking.
Caitlin Clark set a record in total points scored in a women’s NCAA Tournament Games – 187.

The media spent more time focusing on Caitlin Clark.
Let me introduce you to Caitlin Clark, the Iowa Women’s Basketball team’s star guard, with plenty of lessons to teach about success, dedication, and hard work.

Clark became the first player to record back-to-back 40-point triple-double in the NCAA tournament (women’s or men’s)—most points in National Semifinal History. She broke Sheryl Swoope’s 30-year total scoring record in an NCAA tournament.

Everyone has the potential to succeed, but it often takes hard work and determination to achieve our goals. Both teams are inspiring examples of what you can accomplish when you have faith in yourself and never give up.

We also got introduced to other talented players from Iowa, Monika Czinano, LSU’s star players Angel Reese, Alexis Morris, and Jasmine Carson. They offer us invaluable lessons that anyone on the path to success can learn from. I hope you find the courage and inspiration to pursue and make your dreams a reality! Their story of perseverance and the lessons about believing in your abilities.

Here are Three key things these players had in common that you can apply to your business:

Belief in yourself and your ability to succeed:
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese from LSU shared this – “I always believed in myself and my abilities before anyone else did. I knew what I was capable of, and it didn’t matter what outside people thought about me or how many times I was told no. When you believe in yourself, you can do anything.”

Believe in yourself: From day one, Caitlin was confident that she could impact her team and believed in her heart that she would succeed. This kind of self-belief is essential if you want to be successful in any field.
The LSU players Angel Reese, Alexis Morris, and Jasmine Carson shared the same belief.

Work hard and stay focused:
Caitlin trained relentlessly, pushing herself beyond her limits daily before eventually earning a scholarship at Iowa. Her dedication to her craft paid off, and it’s an attitude that translates well into many business pursuits.

Caitlin worked hard to get where she is now, but it wasn’t easy or immediate. She said, “I worked my butt off each season to be the best I could be, and I never got complacent in the face of success or failure. Every day was challenging, and I stayed focused on my goals.”

All the LSU players gave the same hard work and dedication as they, too, dreamed of winning their first National Championship.
Where are you today? Are you focused on your achieving your goals and dreams?

Persevere through the tough times:
Getting discouraged is easy when things don’t go your way, but Caitlin knows that success takes time and is a process. She said, “There will always be bumps in the road and setbacks, but it’s essential to keep pushing forward. We all will face setbacks and challenges. I am pretty sure Caitlin Clark, other Iowa players, and coaches will use this game to prepare for how to get back to the final game next year.

How are you learning from those experiences and moving forward? You have to be resilient and believe in yourself no matter what.

The story is the same for both teams in that perseverance is an inspiring example of what you can achieve when you believe in yourself and never give up. It shows us that success doesn’t have to come overnight but rather with hard work, dedication, and resilience over time.

By taking these lessons to heart, any businessperson or entrepreneur can find the courage and inspiration to pursue their dreams and make them a reality! And Believe me, with enough hard work and dedication, you can accomplish anything!

So, I hope you take away from both programs to keep pushing forward, stay focused on your goals, and never give up.
