3 Tips to Use Time More Wisely

The hard reality hit, you were not the winner of the $1.6 billion lottery! Yeah, I know, you have to coach yourself back to reality and get back to work. The clocks will be falling back this weekend and you need to make certain your effort at work does not. This time of year can become very challenging. End of year is approaching along with the holidays and you’ve not met your goals.

Many of us are overwhelmed with too much to do in too little time. We struggle to get caught up as new tasks and responsibilities are added each day. Because of this we always seem to run out of time. To take control of this situation and have time work for us versus against us, we need to create a simple system that will help us manage through the process and take advantage of each minute.

This process is called: Now, Next, Action. These three words keep you focused on the right activities at the right time to help you accomplish the tasks that have remained on your to-do list for too long. It helps guide you to determine what actions are necessary for you to achieve your outcomes. You will begin to feel empowered and energized as you use your time wisely.

1. Now. It’s all about focus. It’s time for you to develop a routine for identifying what outcome needs attention right now. What have you decided to be a priority to accomplish now? Write down those items in order of priority.

2. Next. It’s the desire and energy you put towards your now. What strategies and timelines have you set in order to improve your business? What cannot wait and needs to be worked on first to accomplish the outcome?

3. Action. It’s time to act on your plan. Once you complete that need, move forward to your next desired outcome. Start crossing off that list all that you have accomplished one task at a time and celebrate your achievements.

Once you take the step toward the one thing on your list holding you back, you should have more confidence and energy. We can mentally drain ourselves by putting off something we know needs to get done. We stack thought after thought of what needs to get done and at times this can paralyze you into doing nothing. Time is wasted and your list of what needs to get done keeps growing. I recommend you start each day by tackling that one thing first instead of putting it off!

We each have 1440 minutes each day. You have complete control over how you use yours. My advice is to use your time wisely!
